Ok, so you may have noticed the random pics topic has like 11 pages, me, knight, and yasha may have gone a little overboard..... anyway, some of the stuff at the end is flash and Knight wanted to know how to post it, so ill tell everyone in this post
This is more difficult then posting youtube stuff, so if you were confused by that, then you probably should just stop reading now
Step 1: Find the flash thing that you want to post - for this example ill use the animation thats over at
http://www.ultimateshowdown.org/Step 2: Once youve found the flash you want to use click on View up at the top left or your browser(where file, edit and all that stuff is), while the flash thing is on your screen
Step 3: In the View menu there should be something called view page source, or page source, it will have source in the name, click on that
Step 4: Clicking on view page source will bring up this thing thats full of text and html code, in the window with all that stuff go to Edit at the top left(where file and view are)
Step 5: Go down to Find in the Edit menu and click it
Step 6: Type swf into the search text field and click search
Step 7: Your looking for something that looks like a link that ends in .swf, so it might take several searches for swf to find the link - for what im using as an example its the first result
Step 8: Once you find the link that ends with .swf copy everything from the http at the beginning of the link to and including .swf - in this example it would be
http://uploads.ungrounded.net/285000/285267_ultimateshowdown.swfStep 9: Somewhere near that link there will be height and width numbers these will be important for the next step, so make sure you either keep the page source window open, or remember these numbers
Step 10: Now come back to the forums and type [flash(width, height)], where width and height are the numbers I told you to keep - in this example you would type [flash(480,360)] since those are the numbers called width and height near that link
Step 11: Now paste the link
Step 12: Now close the flash tag with [/flash] right after the link - so the whole thing for this example would be
- Code:
-
[flash(480,360)]http://uploads.ungrounded.net/285000/285267_ultimateshowdown.swf[/flash]
Step 13: Now watch your flash animation -
Theres some rules and exceptions to this though
1. If the height and width numbers are %s you cant use that flash animation
2. You dont need to use the width and height that are there, you can resize it to w/e you want, but using the width and height thats there is usually a good idea
3. Some flash videos (like from redtube) will not work properly (you only get the video player, with the play button and seek bar, but without the actual video) (not that i actually tried posting any videos from redtube here..... yet, i just know it probably wont work)
4. Because of the nature of the forum you might end up with weird results when playing games, clicking on the game itself should fix anything like that
6. Music wont start playing until you look at the flash
7. To stop music, and the flash itself, right click on it and click Play (yeah, play stops it, somebody was high when they were making that menu)
8. I skipped 5
9. Some flash will never scale correctly no matter what height and width you put it at (you end up with bad looking white borders), this happens rarely though
10. Some flash will need specific height and width to work, or else it wont display at all
Test it out by posting something cool below
